I almost had a heart attack this morning when this spider crawled right by my mouse and under my laptop at light speed. It was one of those moments of primal fear when, only minutes later when the danger has passed, do you realize that you are not actually going to die. Yeah, so like I said, I'm scared of spiders.
Today I ordered a spider trap in the hopes that I will be able to get rid of those little bastards before one of them jumps onto the back of my neck and gives me a coronary. I was reading the "Spider Info" page from the website where I bought the trap (check it out here), and it really didn't help me feel any better. Brilliant scare marketing--especially when you view the Hobo spider video after reading the info sheet. Yikes.
For now, I'm working upstairs until I can muster the courage to go back to the basement.
UPDATE: It worked! I was beginning to doubt these spider traps, since the one I had been checking was still empty after a couple of weeks. I had been avoiding the traps under my desk because it's kind of creepy down there, but yesterday I mustered the courage to check them and voila!
March 13th, 2006 at 08:26 AM Haha. I am the same way.. I have made Casey come and kill those little f'ers every time they try to attack me. When I still lived in Boulder, I once tried to have a peaceful cooexistence with this spider in my room. The deal was, that he would hang out in his little corner where his little tiny web was.. and not come eat me. I in turn, would let him live. One night, he crossed the line. He came over to cuddle and ended up biting me in a couple places. The next morning, I saw him on the wall above my headboard. I smashed him to the wall. He stayed there, dead, dried up, to serve as a warning to all other spiders - DONT MESS WITH AL.

March 13th, 2006 at 09:13 AM Is this the same person who killed spiders for Kim at a dollar a pop? Maybe you need a spider wand that sucks them up and then you put them outdoors. I can find one for you if you like.
March 13th, 2006 at 09:28 AM You're getting paid back for keeping a huge snake in the house of a snake hater..........
March 13th, 2006 at 11:47 AM If I was afraid of spiders I would get a better mouse, one that eats spiders. Or maybe they don't make those for the mac? :) Seriously if you need me to come over and go spider hunting for you.... You can't work 60 hours a week on the couch. Spiders like couches too.
March 13th, 2006 at 03:12 PM Yeah I go nuts too. they feak me out the most when they are in the shower.
March 24th, 2006 at 02:56 AM i am sorry for your scare doug. we have a lot of spiders here; weird colors and big ones too. while we are on the topic, do they eat mosquitoes? if they do i am going to keep them so we dont get malaria. hopefully mom will read this because shell know. i am typing on a french keyboard and dont know where the apostrophe is
March 29th, 2006 at 12:23 PM Bis - I would imagine that spiders will eat anything that flies into their webs. My wolf spider is good for fleas and small bugs. I have another one that does dust mites. The outdoor ones eat all kinds of flying things. I thought you said you were out of the malaria belt...Love Mom
March 29th, 2006 at 11:01 PM What kind of spider is this? It is kind of too jumbled up for me to guess.
