If you're like me when it comes to text editors, you can't imagine life without vim. VI has always been a work of genius, in my opinion, and vim has only improved upon that genius. I love it. I'll never leave you, vim, I promise.

So when a new editor comes along that offers some pretty rad features, like Textmate and its snippets functionality, it can be pretty frustrating. Thankfully, my friend Jeff Rose has come up with some really useful snippets for ruby programmers who can't live without vim. Rumor has it that this may soon be part of the vim-ruby package.

Thanks Jeff!

So, my life has been turned a little upside down by Elly's Christmas gift to me: a personal trainer. Part of the package is meal-planning, which is something I've never even thought about trying until now. The whole process has been tremendously educational (and horrifying) for me.

I'm now eating six meals a day, which sounds good, but when those meals all range from 300 to 500 calories and contain virtually no condiments, sauces, processed sugars, etc, it is not all good. I must admit, I feel a whole lot better after eating like this for the past two days. I will keep it up for at least another month and see how it changes things ("things" being my dad gut). But the worst part of it for me right now is the fact that my favorite Vic's beverage, a 16 oz. mocha latte has almost as many calories as one of my six meals. Dang.

What ?

The time for giving and receiving has arrived, so I'm posting a list of cool stuff I've been eyeing over the past few weeks. Here goes.

Well, that's all I can think of for now. Stay tuned for updates though... ;) And suggestions are always welcome.
